72nd May Show Receiving a Success!

Our 72nd Annual May Show entry receiving took place at the Mansfield Art Center this past week. It was a busy reception and we are happy to report a great turnout, with a variety of unique and original artwork! During the three days of receiving on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Ohio artists from around the state came to enter their artwork for possible acceptance into the annual May Show. Volunteers welcomed entrants on a walk-in basis and worked to help verify and label each piece.

Artwork received remains on the upper floor until the day of jurying. Our 72nd Annual May Show juror is artist Tom Hale, and you may read about him here from a previous blog post. The juror has the final decision on whether art is accepted for the May Show, and chooses the pieces which shall win awards. As of the publishing of this article (Friday, April 21), jurying is in the process and is expected to be completed by day’s end.

All artists who entered will be contacted on Saturday or Sunday in order to notify them if their art has been accepted or not. Accepted pieces will display in the May Show, which exhibits from May 6 through June 4. The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony is May 6 from 7:00 – 9:00pm, with the awards being announced at 8:00pm.

Each year the May Show offers a unique collection of original art created by Ohio residents from all around the state. We can’t wait to see what the 72nd May Show will display and look forward to seeing you here!
