Our upcoming annual May Show is now looking for Ohio artists! The May Show is a juried exhibition which showcases the work and talent of Ohio artists in a variety of media. This is an excellent opportunity for new or established artists to show their work, with the potential to receive an award.

Eligibility

As an Ohio resident or student, you are eligible to submit your artwork to be considered for show in this exhibition. Each artist may submit up to four pieces of artwork. Any medium will be considered, but the artwork must be completely original and owned by the artist. We only accept artwork which has been completed within the last three years, and you will need to make sure it is ready to hang or display.

About the Juror

This year’s 72nd May Show will be juried by Tom Hale, a distinguished artist from Michigan. Tom was an art major for one year at Michigan State University, then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from The Art Center school in Los Angeles. He received his degree with honors and was employed as a designer for a major automobile corporation until 1985, when he left the corporate world to pursue his art career full time. His paintings have earned him many awards, having been shown extensively throughout the United States, and exhibitions in both national and international competitions. In all, Tom has completed over 3100 paintings, many of which are now included in both private and corporate art collections. Tom has been invited to be juror for many art competitions. He speaks and critiques artwork for a number of art organizations, as well as having chaired several art shows. Entry Rules

We have a complete list rules on our May Show page where you can download a PDF file of eligibility rules and submission form. Here’s a summary of what you need to know. All entries must be delivered in person. You will need to fill out a summary card, or the top part of the submission form. There are four lines for up to four entries. The lower half of the form has the labels you will need for your artwork. It is very important to make sure your entries match up, for example, Line A on the summary card must match with Labels A1 & A2. Line B must match with Labels B1 & B2, and so on. The Mansfield Art Center will publish a Gallery Guide for all accepted artwork, so keep in mind that whatever you fill out on your summary card will appear in our guide exactly as given. The fees for entry are $5/piece for members and $10/piece for non-menbers. Membership applications are available on our website or may be picked up at the MAC at any time.

Important Dates

Our 72nd Annual May Show exhibits from May 6 through June 4. We have three dates for entering artwork this year and they are, Tuesday, April 18 from 12 to 5pm; Wednesday, April 19 also from 12 – 5pm; and Thursday, April 20 with extended hours from 12 to 8pm. After the jurying, if not selected for the show, we will call or email you to notify you of pick up dates for artwork. The exhibition opening and reception will be held on May 6 from 7-9pm, with awards being presented at 8pm. After the show, all accepted work may be picked up from June 6 to 11 between 12 and 5pm.
