Acting & Auditioning – Part 2 (6-Thursdays)

Join the growing excitement for Part 2 of the Art Center’s workshop for on-camera auditioning and video production. Book real gigs online and learn techniques for camera. This class is for returning students (more advanced) but is also open to new students, teaching you narrative, commercial, web, interview-style, and social media acting tips, while building your demo reel. Venture out from the stage and explore the world of the digital. The purpose of the class is to have fun, learn, and bond together while we learn to act and audition for the screen.

Coloring layers of clay, carving through, adding and taking away, this class is for the decorators among us who want to take it up a notch! The forms of this class are open, however each lesson will be based around different kinds of decorating techniques. Bring your ideas and we will help you take them one step further!

Digital Art – Beginners Digital Art (6 Thursdays)

With some basic drawing skills, come and learn how to use Apple’s most popular digital drawing app, Procreate. In this class you’ll learn how to use 136 incredible brushes, the advanced layering system, how to upload time-lapse video recordings of your drawings onto social media, and much more. With your own iPad or an iPad provided by the Art Center, we’ll walk you through step-by-step how to create beautiful digital art that you can print and put in your portfolio or hang on your wall at home.

We will be thinking warm thoughts in the coldest of days while designing glass flowers on tecta for slumping. This class if for those who have taken previous glass-fusing classes before, and are looking to build on what they already know.

Beginning glass students will learn the basics of working with fusible glass- choosing glass, using cutting tools, creating a composition, and
preparing projects for firing. In this class we will create cabochons or pendants, a small dish or tile and a larger composition flat piece.

Fused Glass – Working with Glass Powders (3-Thursdays)

Students will experiment with glass powders and paints to create special effects and more painterly styled glass projects. We will use stencils and sgrafitto methods with powders to make a small tile and then glass paints and powder effects to create a larger work. 

Jewelry – Beginning Jewelry Making (6-Tuesdays)

Learn the traditional metal smithing techniques of jewelry making. This class takes you step by step through time honored skills, which include sawing, filing, riveting, stamping, surface texturing, sanding, polishing, and soldering. Projects are suggested, but the focus of the class is on skill development. All supplies, such as brass and copper metals are provided. Students may bring in their own materials only with instructor approval. The studio is only equipped for nonferrous metals.

Jewelry – Enameling: Fusing Glass onto Metal (6-Wednesdays)

Learn the art of fusing layers of powdered glass onto pure copper. Students begin with basic metal shaping and preparation followed by glass application and firing techniques. Beginning projects include plaques and bowls. Advanced students are free to work independently. The supply fee covers all glass colors and firings. Copper and silver is available for purchase in the studio or students may bring in their own.

Painting – Beyond the Beginning-Oil Painting (6-Thursdays)

In this class students must already understand the basics of drawing and painting. You will work on a project of your choosing and bring your own reference materials such as photos, drawings, and memory. How to develop an idea using these resources will be explored. You will bring your own brushes, paints and canvas (up to 2 feet x 3 feet in size). A list of oil colors used in class will be available once you are registered for the class.

Painting – Traditional Iconography Investigation (6 Wednesdays)

We will explore the process of developing a traditional icon of an angel using acrylic paints on a wood panel. “Icon” means window to heaven. That is what we will create. Some drawing or painting experience is required for a successful execution of this class.

Printmaking – Mono-Printing is a Blast! (6 Tuesdays)

Using water based paints we will create beautiful mono prints images using still life, photographs, or from the heart of the participant. We will
paint on Plexiglas and print on dampened soft print paper. One of the beautiful qualities of mono-printing is that the images can be printed
more than once. Mono-printing truly is a blast!

Kids & Canvas – Polar Bear

Drawing and Doodles.

Saturdays, 2:00-3:30pm

$15/child
With guidance from our instructor, your child will paint on a canvas for 1 1/2 hours and leave with a completed painting ready to hang! This class is for the child only. Parents should drop their child off and return after class is finished. Art supplies included. Children may bring drinks and snacks to eat while painting. Suggested ages: 6-14yrs.
