Digital Art – Beginners Digital Art (6 Thursdays)

With some basic drawing skills, come and learn how to use Apple’s most popular digital drawing app, Procreate. In this class you’ll learn how to use 136 incredible brushes, the advanced layering system, how to upload time-lapse video recordings of your drawings onto social media, and much more. With your own iPad or an iPad provided by the Art Center, I’ll walk you through step-by-step how to create beautiful digital art that you can print and put in your portfolio or hang on your wall at home.

This is a class which will help the student build confidence and teach them to see as an artist sees. After teaching drawing for 32 years, my experience has taught me that the most important element to overcome when drawing is the fear of failure. Also to truly learn to see. This is what I teach. To learn to see and appreciate the beauty all around us. This class is for anyone who desires to draw from life and hone their skills whether a high school student or a professional artist. We will work in dry media on paper and discuss keeping a sketchbook. Come and have fun seeing and successfully representing the life around you! 

Fused Glass – The Dynamics of Slumping (6-Thursdays)

Come in and learn with the best in the area. Tiffany will be walking you step by step through different slumping methods, kiln loading, and firings. You will be walking out of the class with enough knowledge that you’ll be able to practice this at home in your own kiln.

For students who have completed the beginning jewelry making class and have instructor approval, this project based class allows students to follow their own artistic journey through independent study. The instructor provides design and metal fabrication problem solving guidance based on students’ ideas and skill levels.

Adv. students are free to work independently. The supply fee covers all glass colors and firings. Copper and silver is available for purchase in the studio or students may bring in their own.

Learn the traditional metalsmithing techniques of jewelry making. This class takes you step by step through time honored skills, which include sawing, filing, riveting, stamping, surface texturing, sanding, polishing, and soldering. Open to all skill levels, projects are suggested for beginners and advanced students work independently. All supplies, such as brass and copper metals are provided. Students may bring in their own materials with instructor approval. The studio is only equipped for non-ferrous metals.

Jewelry – Enameling: Fusing Glass on Metal (Winter II & Spring Sessions)

Learn the art of fusing layers of powdered glass onto pure copper. Students begin with basic metal shaping and preparation followed by glass application and firing techniques. Beginning projects include plaques and bowls.

Advanced students are free to work independently. The supply fee covers all glass colors and firings. Copper and silver is available for purchase in the studio or students may bring in their own.

Painting – Beyond the Beginning-Oil Painting (6-Thursdays)

In this class students must already understand the basics of drawing and painting. You will work on a project of your choosing and bring your own reference materials such as photos, drawings, and memory. How to develop an idea using these resources will be explored. You will bring your own brushes, paints and canvas (up to 2 feet x 3 feet in size). A list of oil colors used in class will be available once you are registered for the class.

Suggested Paint Colors to start with: Titanium White, French Blue, Halo Blue, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, Halo Rose

Painting – Traditional Iconography Investigation (6 Thursdays)

We will explore the process of developing a traditional icon of an angel using acrylic paints on a wood panel. “Icon” means window to heaven. That is what we will create. Some drawing or painting experience is required for a successful execution of this class. Come and enjoy the peace that results from writing an icon.
