People of all ages came to decorate bowls at an event which took place on two different Saturdays. Held at the center the special event workshops were created with good purpose in mind! Each of the hand painted bowls from the Decorate-A-Bowl workshops will be sold at our first annual Soup-A-Bowl event.
Each person who attended was given a ceramic bowl to pain; there were different shapes and sizes to choose from, as well as a nice assortment of colors. Everyone gathered around long tables in the class room and begin painting away. Some people had worked with ceramic before and some had not, but most got right to their task. Afterwards the bowls were placed on a common table and left at the Mansfield Art Center, where a staff member will fire them in the kiln at a later time.
Even if you were unable to attend a Decorate-A-Bowl workshop, you are still invited to join us at the Soup-A-Bowl event which will take place on Saturday, December 10th from 5:30-7:30pm. All bowls decorated at our workshops will be available for a $15 donation, and with that you get your bowl filled with all the homemade soup you can eat, your choice of coffee, tea or juice, and a dessert. Or, for an $8 donation you can still receive the goodies, but in a non-decorated bowl. The soup is made from scratch by many of our volunteers and sponsors. The “fee” to get into this fundraising event is one food pantry item per person, which will be donated to our local food pantry.
