This is a unique opportunity to polish your oil painting knowledge.

In every artist, there is always a room to better oneself by sharing what other artists have learned throughout the passage of time; and this is exactly what Paul McClain intends to share with you in this class.

With your instructor, Paul, the relaxed and informal atmosphere will guide you and prepare you to get the best out of your creativity during these committed 12 hours ( 6 classes of 2 hours each) of oil painting.

Whether you are a regular painter or feel that you need to jump back in the saddle from years of a break, it will be filled with discovery of shape, color and how to”s.

Bring the size canvas of your choice and a picture or photograph of a subject that you would like to paint. The Mansfield Art Center will have the oil paint and the brushes here for you.

Please feel free to call if you have further questions regarding the class.  The only prerequisite is that you have some drawing and painting experience.

For the safety of everyone we recommend social distancing and masks are required. Due to covid-19 we can only accommodate a maximum of 10 people for the class, so register soon!

A waiting list will be available.

Join us in the Mansfield Art Center’s glass studio for a hands on, socially distant glass working experience. In this two part class, students will first create a set of 2 unique solid glass shapes. You will learn how to safely gather 2120°F molten glass, add color and use the basic glass working tools. After finishing your glass pieces they will need to anneal (slowly cool to room temperature).

Once your glass is annealed, you will come back in to learn how to cold work (the process of grinding, flattening and polishing glass) a flat spot onto your newly created glass cabinet pull. From here you will epoxy the cabinet-pull hardware to your glass object.

Your first session:Creating the glass objects  Your work will stay at the MAC and anneal until the second session which will set up with your instructor.

You will be able to schedule your second session at our first class to meet the needs of your schedule.  (There will be both weekday and weekend options).
