What is Henna tattoing ?

The material used in the henna practice is a critical part of the process. "The leaves of the plant are dried and made into a fine powder; You can mix this powder with sugar, lemon juice and essential oils to create a paste.

The plant grows best in desert areas such as the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. It was first discovered in the tombs of Ancient Egypt (3400 B.C.E.).South Asia really popularized it with their extravagant wedding traditions. Now, the art is practiced all over the world.

This temporary henna art is waiting for your arm and hand.

We will have many patterns and templates available for you to chose from for your design elements, or you are welcome to bring you own ideas.

Please be advised henna tattoos can last up to 3 weeks. Instructor and local artist, Rochelle Brown, will walk you through the whole process of applying your own henna paste.

Ukrainian Easter eggs are called pysanky, which derives from the verb for “to write.”

The most famous type of Easter egg in Ukraine are those made with the wax-resist method.

This method requires the use of beeswax and a special stylus, sometimes called a kistka, to draw wax onto an egg. We will be using larger Goose Eggs instead of the traditional size.

When the egg is immersed in a dye bath, the areas covered by wax do not absorb the color. At the end of several stages of drawing and dying, the wax is melted off to reveal the design underneath.

Though many Ukrainian egg artists are maintaining ties with tradition and imitating their ancestors, pysanky from Ukraine have achieved the status of art.

They make beautiful present, or they are passed down from generation to generation.

We respect Covid-19 practices by social distancing and wearing masks in our building at all times.
