Much is taking place at the Mansfield Art Center during our Holiday Fair. It is our festive time of year and we love it when our friends from the community come by and see us and join in the activities. Next week we’re offering workshops, where you and your children can make wockets and pockets, or small hand-sewn toys and herb-filled sachets.
Our Elves Workshop is conducted by Barbara Damron, who is also known for her Queen Bee Puppetry. She has been playing with puppets most all her life and loves to share her hand-made puppets through performances and workshops across the Midwest and New England. Barbara has studied with master storytellers and puppeteers around the world, has an M.Ed. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a B.S. in Environmental Studies. As a naturalist, fiber artist and educator, she felts her own wool and makes her own puppets.
Barbara brings to these workshops a special love of sharing her hand-sewn creations and teaching children how to sew. She’ll show children how to make the running and whip stitch as they sew their own wockets and pockets. There is no pre-registration required for this workshop, just come on by and join in. The cost is $5.00 per project and is suitable for children ages 3-12. We do kindly ask that parents stay with their children during this activity.
We have three workshops for you to choose from: Thursday, Dec. 15, Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17. They all begin at 1pm and should last for about an hour, until 2pm. These small hand-sewn treasures will make great gifts for your friends and family, not to mention special! Plus, we have fine art and gifts you can find at our Holiday Fair, on display in our Upper Main Gallery.
