Job Title: Glassblowing Instructors

Location: Mansfield Art Center, Mansfield, Ohio

Compensation based on experience. Hourly range: $17-22

About Us: The Mansfield Art Center is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the artistic development of our community members through focused instruction and access to the works of thousands of professional artists. Our recently expanded Education Wing offers a diverse range of classes, including glassblowing, stained glass, drawing, painting, ceramics, silk painting, jewelry making, printmaking, fiber arts, rug tufting, 3D printing, and design technology. This award-winning addition is equipped with vaulted ceilings, modern floor-to-ceiling windows, and open workspaces bathed in natural light, creating an inspiring environment for both instructors and students.

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and passionate Glassblowing Instructors to join our team. Full-time and part-time positions available. The ideal candidate will have several years of glassblowing experience and a proven track record of teaching the craft. In this role, you will lead most classes on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, guiding students through hands-on instruction and nurturing their creative potential in a supportive and engaging environment. Additionally, you will contribute by creating glass pieces for our gallery shop. Candidates will also have the opportunity to enjoy personal glassblowing time each week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and instruct glassblowing classes tailored to a variety of skill levels, with a focus on sessions held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

• Ensure a safe and organized environment within the glassblowing studio.

• Foster an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere.

• Collaborate with the Education Coordinator on class scheduling and workshop planning.

• Create glass pieces for sale in the Gallery Shop.

• Utilize personal glassblowing time each week to develop your own craft.

• Participate in Art Center events, exhibitions, and other activities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Preferred minimum of 3 years of glassblowing experience.

• Demonstrated experience in teaching glassblowing.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with both staff and students.

• Commitment to creating a supportive and creative learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of stained glass, kiln forming, and/or flameworking.

• Ability to repair and maintain glassblowing equipment.
